After School & Vacation Programs

Extended Care, Learning and Fun!

Stuart offers students the opportunity to participate in extended-care and Enrichment programs. Click on the tabs below to learn more about each of these outstanding programs.

After School Care

After School care and enrichment activities are available to students in the Pre-School and Lower School. The program begins at 3:00 pm and concludes at 6:00 pm. Activities include supervised structured and unstructured play, group activities and, for the older students, homework time. A nutritious snack is provided. The program is a two-semester system and enrollment is required prior to the beginning of each semester.

Parents of children who miss their bus, or who are unable to pick up their children due to unforeseen circumstances, can be assured that their children will be cared for. Stuart allows all children who remain at school after 3:30 pm to be included in the After School program. Note that parents are charged for this service.

Fees for After School Care

The fees for the After School program are $550 for each particular day of the week for the whole year, or $2,600 for the entire year. Fees are payable in advance and due by opening day of the semester in which the child is being enrolled (e.g. September 8, 2010 and January 4, 2011).

The maximum charge for a one-day “drop-in” is $40*. For those who miss their bus or remain after dismissal, the charge is $20. Any child who remains after 4:15 pm will be charged an additional $20. *There will be an additional $20 late fee for those picked up after 6:00 pm.

In case of an emergency, parents must call Stuart and notify the After School program of any later-than-scheduled pick-up plans.

Vacation Play Days

Stuart offers Vacation Play Days for students, their siblings, Princeton Academy students and extended family members who are age 3 through grade 8. These activities are structured similarly to Stuart’s After-School programs, with an added element of fun and a theme that varies with the seasons. In keeping with Stuart’s commitment to our Goal of service to others, crafts and activities will always include a project which is donated to the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen in Trenton. Vacation Play Days are offered for two weeks at the end of August, during Fall and Spring Parent Conferences, January and March In-Service days, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break vacation weeks, and the first week of June before Summer Camp programs begin.

The theme for 2010-2011 is Take a Trip around the World—a visit to one of the 42 countries where there are Sacred Heart Schools. Participants will learn about culture, languages, customs and some special snacks. Structured and unstructured playtime is included. A nutritious snack is provided, but parents need to provide a bag lunch.

Fees for Vacation Play Days

Families have the option of a half-day or full-day program. The program runs from 8:00 am until 5:30 pm. A half-day consists of 4 hours for $45, 6 hours of care at a cost of $65per day, and a child may attend any 4- or 6-hour time period. The whole-day program is $90 per day. Vacation Camps are offered based on minimum enrollments at the time of the registration deadline dates. On Parent Conference Days in October and March, children may drop in for $12 per hour to accommodate their scheduled conference.

Enrollment for camp will be confirmed by Ms. Anne Pierpont, Director of After-School and Summer Programs on the day after the stated deadline for Play Days Camp.
