Grades 9 through 12
Stuart’s Upper School provides a unique opportunity for girls to evolve into mature young women who are equipped with the knowledge, dedication and confidence to make a difference in the world. They master a variety of subject areas, including creative and expository writing, mathematical and analytical reasoning, conflict resolution, foreign language, science and self-expression.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
In addition to academics, extracurricular activities are an integral part of Upper School life. Participation in team sports provides opportunities to develop teamwork skills and to represent Stuart in competitions. Two major theater productions are presented annually. Students develop literary, photographic, artistic and administrative skills publishing the school newspaper, The Tartan; the literary magazine, The Thistle; and the yearbook, LaSource. The Social Committee sponsors a variety of activities.
Each Upper School student contributes to those in need through community service. Active caring on the part of faculty, staff and students is at the very core of Sacred Heart education. Through the program in Religion and Campus Ministry, this concern for others is carried out by service projects in the greater Mercer County area and Appalachia, and through specific national and international programs. The Student Council Outreach Committee also provides opportunities for service and ministry through its various programs in the school and community.
