Admission Requirements

Upper School

Accepting applications for 2010-2011 where space is available. 

Requirements for admission to Stuart’s Upper School include the following:

  • Application: A completed application, including a $75 application fee, is required. The SSAT Common Application is also accepted. 
  • Interview: An interview for applicants and their parents is generally scheduled during a school day between 2 – 3 pm on a day prior to the applicant’s full-day visit to Stuart. (See below.) The Admissions Office will contact you to schedule an appointment once your child’s application is received.
  • School Visit: Applicants will spend the entire day attending Upper School classes. The visit will begin at 8:00 am and conclude at 3:10 pm.
  • Testing: Applicants are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) administered at various testing centers listed in the SSAT booklet. To register for this examination, please visit the SSAT Website at http://www.ssat.org/
  • Recommendation: Four recommendations are required: English, Mathematics, Foreign Language, and school principal or guidance counselor. These recommendations should be completed by teachers familiar with the applicant’s academic performance and mailed directly to Stuart by the individual making the recommendation.
  • Transcripts: A transcript, including official grades and standardized test scores, must be mailed directly to Stuart from the applicant’s present school. Final grades from the previous year and mid-year grades for the current year are required.
