Six Upper School Students Receive Regional Writing Award
Posted March 3, 2010
Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart is pleased to announce six ninth grade students have earned regional Gold Key recognition in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2010.
Each year, more than 165,000 works of art and writing are submitted to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Only 10,000 students earn Gold Keys as decided by leaders in the creative industries. The student’s work will now be reviewed as part of the national recognition program. The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers is the sponsor of the awards program.
In its 87-year history, the Awards have recognized some of America’s most celebrated young artists and authors while they were teenagers, including: Richard Avedon, Truman Capote, Joyce Carol Oates, Sylvia Plath, Zac Posen, Robert Redford and Andy Warhol.
“We are delighted that six members of the Class of 2013 had their work recognized by the Alliance,” said Frances de la Chapelle, Head of School. “I would like to thank their teacher Meg Caddeau for coaching and supporting these students’ efforts in the writing arts and representing Stuart so well in the national arts and education community.”
